Some Cards & a Quick Video (Episode 328 - A Butterfly Card)

Hello my dear friends!

Two posts in two days has got to be my newest record!  I told you how therapeutic my craft room has been for me, right??  I have enjoyed my time these past few days hanging out in My Pink Loft with my children.  It was just like old times when they were itty bitty kids getting into everything!  LOL!  Now they are all old enough to enjoy it as much as I do.

Today I woke up feeling a bit better so I thought I would attempt to go to my church.  I don't know if any of you are familiar with the Mormon church (www.lds.org) but our church is 3 hours a week.  Kind of long to sit through if you've just had surgery, but I missed it!  I decided that I would feel it out and probably just stay for the first hour, Sacrament.  I ended up staying for two hours plus the hour before for a Leadership meeting.  Let me tell you that I was more than ready to go home after all of that.  I loved what I heard but my body wasn't ready to sit that long.  I got home and instantly jumped in bed. I guess I have to listen to my body a little bit better and not overdo it, which is very hard for me!

Here are some of the cards that I've made over the past few days.  I just sit in a comfy chair and at least one of my kids joins me on another chair and crafts, too.  It's nice to have that special time with them.

Our family was so blessed, as we received a lot of meals the first 10 days after surgery!  The people in my church are so generous.  Even after I told them we would be fine, they insisted.  Who is going to say NO to a homemade meal??  So, with all of that service to our family, I had a lot of Thank You cards to make!  I made 6 of the following design.

"I Like Your Style Card"  Paisley Cricut Cartridge.  Isn't it soooo cute??  Much cuter in person!

This next one I only made two of.  I missed stamping and coloring in so I thought I would give it a shot since it's been so long!  I also put in a fairly good size Stampin' Up! order in with my demonstrator yesterday.  I cannot wait for the new catalog to come out soon!!

And this last one I actually filmed a video of!  I didn't do any of the filming today, it was all done Friday and Saturday.  I hope you enjoy it!  Here is the card, followed by the video.

  7. Hi Robyn. I check in every day to see if you are here. Have missed you. I had the same thing happen to me with my 7th pg. and had an emergency hysterectomy. Just take it easy so you don't end up with complications. It is hard when you are use to being active but better in the long run. Really enjoyed the video and hope to see more soon. Hugs, Regina

  11. Glad to see you in your video--have missed you. I had open-heart surgery last Oct.with complications & was in hosp. 3 weeks. Returned home to about 3 weeks of meals provided by my congregation. Amazing!! I think they felt sorry for my husband who doesn't really cook. God wants us to care for each other. We must remember to pass it forward. Be kind to yourself and get lots of rest. Bye for now, Kathy in Helena

  24. I found your site four years ago when I was brand new to card making. I could hardly wait for each day to see what cards you would come up with. You taught me so much. I just loved you and your blog. I'm so happy to see you online again, but sad that you had to go through surgery. Take care of yourself. Your video was awesome and so was your son.

  33. Cute little quick card. Crafting is very healing. I had hysterectomy after my breast cancer, and totally understand what you are and will be going thru. I was almost the same age as you. Very early 40s. Spending time in my craft room was very therapeutic for me. Good luck and God bless!

  41. Hi Robyn,
Glad to see you are back. So sorry about your complications and having the hysterectomy. You have been through quite a bit!! Please remember to take care of yourself. Even though you may seem better some days, you really need to remain slower for 6-8 weeks. I know it is very hard.

I had an emergency hysterectomy 8 years ago. They thought I had uterine cancer. Praise HIM it wasn't that but stage 4 endometriosis. I never had any complications until a couple mo's before the surgery and always went to my doctor every 6 mo's. So, you never know what can happen!

I am just so happy you are okay though! I get so much inpiration from you and your projects. Love seeing all the gardening you and your family do. Your children are beautiful!

BTW, miss you on SCS chatting with all the gals of long ago. You should come back to our thread and visit sometime.

Take care and continue crafting. It is the best therapy when you are confined to the house. I know that is what got me through my recovery time.

If you have any questions about what to expect and the aftermath of surgery just send me an email. Your body will go through a lot of change within the next couple of years. Overall, though you will come through it. Just know there is support for you out there.
