Scrapbooking Thoughts and Craziness!

Good morning everyone!!

I hope you have had a good week so far.  Mine has been busy but great!  I've had some wonderful service opportunities through my church and the Relief Society Organization that I am a part of.  Nothing helps you get out of yourself like serving another person.  :)

Today is going to be a lazy day.  I can tell.  It's rainy outside and I am BLAH!!  Two of my children have ortho appointments throughout the day, so I have decided that I am going to fill in the rest of my day with scrapbooking!  I am doing traditional scrapbooking and digital scrapbooking now.  I rotate months.  I will print out a few months at a time and then if I have a big month filled with a lot of events, I will digital scrap that month.  That way I am still satisfied with the paper crafting but am able to also get pages done when I cannot pull my paper supplies out or I am not at home.  On New Year's Eve I went through all my 16+ years of scrapbook paper I have collected and organized it.  I actually had a stack about 8-9 inches high of paper that I gave away to a friend who just got her first Cricut for Christmas and had very little supplies.  I had been holding on to paper from the first Stampin' Up! release of patterned paper!!  I figure, if I haven't used it yet, I'm probably not going to.  LOL!  I am VERY organized now with all my paper!!  YAAAYY!  Do you want to see it??

  7. I have heard from other crafters that colored card stock fades over time. As a long time paper hoarder, have you found that to be true?? =)

  8. I try to keep mine organized as best as possible but need more space to do it the way I would like! What I really need to do though is organize my scraps so that I use them more!

  9. Robyn, It must be in the air, I just went through all of my paper and had about the same amount that I gave away. I went through my craft and cleaned up all the Christmas projects and decided my paper needed to cleaned up.
Then I went through all my 81/2 x 11 and cleaned up all the scraps... feels good to start the year fresh!

  10. I haven't been paper crafting seriously for very long. I got my very first cricut in November. So my "stash" isn huge. But I have been doing a lot of stuff so I have tons of scraps! What I find useful is a got a few of those plastic accordion folders that expand. I sort my scraps by color and each color has its own section in the folders. Then within each section I sort them by size. Smallest in front, largest in back. I definitely am envious of the pink loft and wish I had a room to myself for crafting. I have to drag everything out to my dining room table. :(

  11. I had to do that for years Jess and I totally understand. Great idea about the folders!

  16. Robyn you have a lot of paper! I am amazed! I don't have half of that and I can't keep track of all of it. How did you organize it? I see in the drawers its not by colors.

  19. This looks wonderful. I have my paper organized too, however, not as much of it. : )

For scraps, I used a basket for a long time with plastic sheet protectors for each color. I just changed over to a colored milk crate and added hanging folders. In those folders, I have my sheet protectors with the scraps within it. To organize my scraps even more, thus the need for the hanging folders, I split the scraps by size and pattern. For sample, for my blues, I have a sheet protector for my small scraps, my larger scraps, and for my blue pattern scraps. I never intended to change my pretty basket but I started to see some debris under it. I had a black (and pink one) milk crate with the hanging folders in them (I'm an elementary teachers purging her stuff) so I thought why not. I love how it turned out. Oh, I have a manila folder in the first hanging folder to hold my vinyl scraps. I may also turn to a sheet protector if my vinyl scraps become too much for that folder. Hope this helps.

  24. It looks so great!!! Wow. Your supply looks like a store. ha!! I ended the year organizing my crafting space, which is in my livingroom. Now it looks like a "command center" and everything is in a cabinet (like kitchen cabinets) and it looks so beautiful! I'll have to post it on my blog...but I have to think about it first.

  31. Robyn,

Can you tell me how you print your digital scrapbook pages? I'm just getting into the digital scrapbooking and wondering if I should invest in a printer (I do 12x12) pages or send them out.

    Thanks!

  35. Congrats on the paper overhaul. My old or unwanted paper is used when I work with children and someone (or group)is in need of receiving something positive. I put out the paper, adhesive, coloring tools, embellishments, etc. and say "Get going and create." The results are spectacular.
