Churchy Sunday

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope you are having a very special day.  It has been amazing for me.  Church was so uplifting today.  I can't put my finger on just one thing as I felt that every class & lesson was just for me.

I forgot to share my new church responsibility or "calling" as we call it in our church.  I have been released from working with the Primary Children's Music and now get to work with the Cub Scouts.  I am the new Wolf Den Leader and have two little 8 year old boys I get to work with.  I am so excited to learn something new and have fun experiences with the Cub Scouts.  Who would have thought that I would ever get to serve in Cub Scouts and who would have thought that I would be excited about it!  LOL!

This evening after church I made some cookies and simple little cards for my two little boys in the Wolf Den and took them over to their house.  I want to make sure that I keep them excited about the program and also let them know how happy I am to get to work with them.  Here is the TOTALLY simple card that I made for each of them.

Here is a little uplifting video I found on my church's website.  www.mormon.org.  I hope you like it as much as I did.  There are some amazing people in this world.  I hear all the time how people are getting worse & worse but I see the opposite.  I see how much good one person can do again & again.

  1. What an awesome video.
It never seizes to amaze me how compassionate and kind young people are. It warms my heart to see young people attending church and smiling and being kind.
Robyn you are absolutely right there are lots of kids like the ones on that video, they are not put in the spotlight nearly enough.
Hugs to you for reminding us of how wonderful young people really are.
    Best wishes,
    J

  6. This calling will be a bit challenging, Robyn, in the craft area. Dare I say it? You can't use pink. Oh nooooooooo.

Seriously, the boys have no idea how blessed they are, though I am certain you feel the same way towards them.

    God bless,
    Mary R.

  8. I was also a Wolf Leader to two young boys. It was a lot of fun to do paper projects with them. We even used my Cricut many times. Have fun!

  13. Robyn,

My husband and I have been cub scout leaders for several years. It is a fun, rewarding experience. Here is a link we had found for some ideas on getting started: http://www.scripps-mesa.org/CubZone/help_for_new_wolf_leaders.pdf

Wishing you good luck in your endeavor.

  14. My heart went out to this young lady who is carrying a large burden on her shoulders. I am so very thankful to those girls who took her into their fold and made her a cheerleader. There are so very many young people out there that are good and caring. We don't hear enough about them. My prayers are with her and her family. I am so very tired hearing of all the evil out in this wonderful world and it brought tears to my eyes when I saw this video and know there is GOOD out there, too.

How proud they must feel. Thanks for sharing this video.

  17. Robyn, thank you so much for posting that video. This high school is just down the street from our home and they are amazing kids there.
We all need to believe that there is still so much good on the earth today, and we CAN make such a big difference.

  18. Thank you for sharing that video Robyn! I work in Pit Bull rescue & it just seems like everyday I see more & more of the evil & ignorance humans can possess, so this was a great way to pick myself up this morning! Thank you so much!

  19. Very emotional video. These young ladies will never be the same! Also, those watching this are touched by what they did for another precious human being. Very powerful tool to SHOW how to treat others.
Thanks for the uplifiting message! I am a Non-denomimational Christian and I have to say, the more I learn about the Morman faith and the values the majority holds, the more I feel that many in my believing faith need to stop blindly judging and start taking notes.
Thank you for sharing, this truly turned my day around!

  20. Thanks for sharing that video! Thanks also for being a wonderful scout leader. I am the primary councilor over cub scouting and we are having the hardest time keeping our leaders in scouting. We have had lots of them tell us NO :( I wish they would just embrace it and love it the way you are. We have about 40 cubs in our program!!!!

  23. Robyn,
What a great story! I was so very touched by what those young ladies did. Not a lot of cheerleaders would welcome someone so fully. It was a incredible video. Thank you for posting it.
If you have the time perhaps you could watch this video:

  25. As you probably know Robyn, I have a different perspective while watching this video since I'm the one in the wheelchair. This video touched me in that it reminds me to cherish and appreciate all the wonderful people who have been such an enormous blessing to me. (present company included. ;)

And it is a good reminder that no matter how challenging things may be sometimes, there is always someone who may be struggling more. I hope I never miss an opportunity to help someone less fortunate.

Good luck with your new area of serving. I know you're going to do awesome!

  28. I have followed your blog for some time now and you have inspired me many times. Your weight loss and the things you have overcome, I have now lost 4stone and had both knee joints totally replaced. Again today you inspire and this can only bring to mind the saying that you don't have to see to believe you have to believe to see. Thank you Robyn.
PS you will be surprized where you can use pink with boys.

  29. What a wonderful uplifting and inspiring video. Those girls truly showed the world that there are still teens out there that posses, Faith, Hope and Charity. Also, I know that you are going to be an amazing cub leader. Those boys will grow up knowing that you loved and cared enough for them to be there every week, and I know that as the years go by, they will remember their wonderful "pack leader".

  31. That video brought tears to my eyes. I lost my granddaughter at the age of 24 from Leukemia in 2010. She contacted the disease at the age of 20. She was fiesty and a fighter, but the leukemia got the best of her. I think of her everyday and wish she could be here with us today. Her fervant wish was to find a cure so that the children wouldn't have to suffer the way she did. Our family are now Cancer Fighting Maniacs and have raised over $32,000 this year for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. My granddaughter was the Memorial Honoree at this years Light The Night Walk for the Leukemia Foundation.
