Last night was just an ordinary night for me and my kids. We did our night routine and sent them on their way. I stayed up too late working on a blog post and other My Pink Stamper stuff. Around 1:00 am I settled down in my bed and decided to read for a few minutes when I heard the lightening and thunder begin. At first it seemed normal but then I heard sounds on my windows and the side of my house! I got up and checked out my front door and it looked like a tornado was hitting us!! I tried to wake my husband but he was really out (I'm known for overreacting). I then went to check our back yard and discovered that a huge tree had broken and was in our pool!! I woke him again and we both agreed to wake the children and bring then downstairs in case we needed to go to our shelter. Crazy part was that since this was not a tornado, the sirens were not going off. They should have! The storm died down and everyone went back to sleep but this is what we woke up to this morning.

I also woke up to my 4 year old saying "I'm ready to go to school!!"
Here is some of the destruction in my town.... Remember that this was NOT a tornado!! The damage is the same in some areas, though.
Hope you all have a GREAT day! My husband is actually looking forward to using our chainsaw to clean up our mess. He's only used it to help with tornado damage in another town. I'm ready to pull it out today, too, but Karlee thinks I should wait until someone who knows how to use it comes home. :)

That was some storm. I am glad to see that everyone is okay!
Thank your lucky stars that the tree didn't hit your house. Those storms can come up so quickly. Be safe and God bless.

Wow, I bet that was scary! I'm so glad everyone is ok! Christina
We had a small tornado pass through our neighborhood a few months ago and did some damage to our tree too. It fell right into the pool but took our grill down with it. the really scary part is that the grill is attached to the gas line and I had to run out there in the middle of everything to turn off the gas. It is so scary. I'm so glad you are all ok!
This happened to me last weekend. super scary and the wind was so strong.
WOW that is so scarry! I am so glad you and your family are ok and everyone in your town is okay. Thank God for his protection!!
Big HUGS

Thank God that everyone is ok. It's so amazing what storms can do. Be safe.
Oh my that sounds like what happened in my area 3 years ago but ours was much worse : (! They called it strait line winds, it is like a tornado but without the rotation! Most of our area was without power for upto 5 days! I worked at JewelOsco (a food & drug store) and we were the only large store open for almost a day! Glad everyone in your town is safe!
Melinda
Oh my gosh!! That is sooo scary. Glad to hear you and your family are alright.
Blessings,

Glad everyone is safe! Might be a good idea to wait for your husband before attempting the chain saw! :)
Leslie
We had a bad thunderstorm come through and make that kind of destruction..we had BIG trees down all over..and it was only 60mph wind gusts!! Glad you and your family are ok..
Oh wow Robyn, I'm glad you and your family are ok. You are right, those sirens or some other warning system should have gone off during a storm that was capable of producing that much damage.
~Selena
Yikes Robyn! Glad everything, except maybe the tree, is ok. Have fun (and be safe) working that chain saw.

Even though it wasn't a tornado it was bad enough to bring down part of the tree glad your all okay though! Sandra H
That storm was pretty wicked last night. I heard it too as I was settling to go to bed myself, and turned on the weather to make sure it wasn't something more, but turned out to be just lots of wind, thunder and lightening. Glad that this was the only damage, and that you and the kids are alright! I think a tree in my pool with be the end of the line or me and this pool... crazy thing has a leak I can't find... ugh!
I am so glad all of you are safe! What a storm! I hope the clean up goes well.

You are a brave girl I won't allow my husband to touch a chain saw once he gets it going he wants to cut everything...kind of like us crafters with our expression and an new pack of paper....

WOW when you said it was windy you was not kidding. They even if it was not a tornado they should have sounded sirens. Our town will do them if we have a bad storm with really high winds in them. Those sirens are there to give people a warning who might not know hey bad weather coming our way. Once we was watching a movie and our firnd called and ask you guys taking shelter, we were confussed. Its nice outside no rain little cloudy and about that time sirens went off. Had our friend not called the sirens would have warned us hey turn off the movie and look at the news. We had a tornado headed our way and it was not bad at all. Lesson I learned you cant judge a storm by how bad it looks outside.
Wow girl - I'm glad you're all ok - but I love the independence but - Karlee is right - wait for someone to use it with a little know how - that definitely could be dangerous in the wrong hands (hint hint - that's you by the way)
I am so glad you are OK!!! I had an ex who would not wake up when I was having a heart attack. I left the bed to go to the livingroom to call for an ambulance. The police ended up waking him up. Can you imagine waking up to having a police officer standing over your bed? LOL http://visionsofpaper.blogspot.com/
Wow, what a mess.. I agree with Karlee, just wait.. Did you son really have school? How funny.. My kids start next week.. Summer flew by.. Hope your weather stays calm. LisaMH
Yikes...good thing it wasn't a tornado?! Lee-Ann :)
Wow Robyn, what a storm!!! Looks like you guys have some cleaning up to do but in the long run Thank God you are all safe..Hope you all have a better sleep tonight!
Glad everyone is safe! Good luck cleaning up the tree and mess.
Wow! Glad everyone is ok and hope the chainsaw action goes smoothly.
OMGoodness Robyn!! So glad you are all ok! How scary!
You are so funny! I am glad everyone is okay and I hope no one was injured in the storm! That is a CRAZY storm to not be called a tornado!
Glad that you and your fmaily are safe. Tell your husband to becareful using the chainsaw. God bless you and your family.
Those pics are crazy!!! Really happy you guys are okay!!! :)
I understand what you are saying about storms, I to am afraid of them. My bedroom is upstairs also but I can't hear anything. Hope your husband is very careful and gets the pool cleaned up.
Tammy H
Isn't it hard to swim around the tree? Just kidding, I am glad you are all safe. You have had quite the weather this summer.
Wow! That is some "non-tornado mess! So glad it wasn't any worse.
Kristine
Glad to read, nothing seriues happened.Sometimes storms just come up and die down again. I life in the Netherlands and we don't have tornados. But we do have storms that just start and stop just as sudden. But they do cause al lot of damage.
Wow!! I know just how you feel. We've been dealing with these weird storms here in Tennessee all spring and summer. They're really scarey! So glad you and your family are safe.

Glad everyone is safe. We have had storms come near Lubbock and then due to the dry line, they break up so fast releasing such major down bursts that look like a tornado hit. Good luck with the clean up and always trust women's intuition!! My husband does!
Glad you and your family are safe.

We had a wind storm in my town last summer and it is absolutely amazing the amount of damage that can occur in less than a half hour, just due to wind. You're lucky if that's the only portion of a tree you have down. Tell your husband to have fun cleaning it up! :)
Oh I am glad you and your family are safe.. what a scary scary thing.. definitely looks and sounds like a tornado... hugs from ukiah
Scary! I'm glad everyone is okay.
Ouch glad all is OK.
So glad you are all okay.

Glad everyone is ok Robin. As someone else said it my have been stright line winds we has some year in Lufkin before and there was a lot s of damage to the forest, homes etc. to me they should have just went ahead and call it a tornado. I was like you it seem like a tornado I was home along and the rain and wind just about broke my windows a few large trees feel. Thank God you and your family are ok. Jaunice
Wow, that was some super cell you must have had. Glad it was just a tree and I have a husband that would love an excuse to get the chain saw out too. Be safe with the clean up.
Well, I think your hubby will be very busy with that tree. Looks like it was pretty scary though. I have been in a tornado before (I know, you didn't have a tornado) and I will never forget it. It is awful looking up from the basement and seeing sky......Glad everyone is safe and "ready for school".
Wow, that's an impressive storm!! I'm glad everyone was OK and your house wasn't damaged. Chainsaws....my hubby saw one on sale at Lowes a while back and wanted to buy one "just in case" we ever had a big storm and he needed it for something....even though BOHT our dads have one we could borrow AND we don't even have any big trees!!!! ;) Needelss to say we still don't own a chainsaw!!!! ;)
Glad everyone is ok. It could have been what they call a "microburst". We had one last year and had a`whole lot of damage too.
Oh my goodness! I am so glad that you and your family are safe!
Robyn, that is so scary. Living in South Florida has its own set of challenges, but these trees down are proof that something big went down in your area. You sure it wasn't a tornado????
So glad you are safe!
Glad that everyone was ok! That's so crazy! If you need any roof repairs, let me know. My dad owns a roofing company in Yukon and his crews do work all over the OKC area. :)
Those are some impressive pictures. I am so happy that your family was safe. Good luck with your chain-saw-er :-)
Judy
so glad you all are o.k.! the dammage sure looks like tornado dammage but a sheer wind storm can do that much damage as well. well now all the big boys in you'r area can have fun with their big toys. lol!
Glad you all are ok and that noone was hurt.
Glad everyone is safe and nobody was hurt!
How scary!! Glad everyone is OK.
Glad everyone is okay and no damage to your home. Your pool doesn't look too happy though.
wow!! glad you are all okay and the pool was not actually "broken" I live 2 hrs away from you and our storm left many without electricity some for a hrs a few to 2 days.. our "toys" got a ride around our back yard -yes!! that wind was horrible! glad you are all okay :)

Robyn - i know it isnt funny what you are going through but I did have to smile. I just spent last week cutting up tree's with a chainsaw - great exercise!!! It seems this summer the weather is really creating lots of work for a lot of people. Straight line winds can be just as damaging as a tornado. Thankful that you and your family are okay. Take care!!!
Wow Robyn:
Think God for protection. I'm glad your family is safe.
sherita@gwu.edu
Glad you all are safe! Praise God. Have a super day....
Wow, I'm glad your all fine. Now the clean. Stay safe. God Bless
Glad you guys are all safe!
Thank the good LORD no one was injured. Storms are sometimes scary enough in the day light , but to wake to a monster one in the dark and not see what is coming your way is more terrifying.
God bless your town and the clean up efforts.
Michele
Living in different areas of Texas has taught me one thing if nothing else about the weather --thunderstorms during a very hot day or a heat wave are usually a problem thing and I agree with Karlee that you should wait and let someone with experience do the work with the chain saw. They may seem simple to operate but they do have a kick-back that can be very dangerous. Glad the family is ok
Wow, this brings back memories. A few years ago, my parent's farm where I grew up was completely destroyed by an F4 tornado. Nothing was left standing after that mean wind! We just thanked the good Lord that no one was hurt. I am so glad to hear that you and your family are alright!
You have some cleaning up to do. But you are all ok, unharmed. That is the most important thing.
I am so happy that you are all ok. I am all about empowerment so my vote is to have your husband show you how to use the chainsaw and then you will know how to do it the next time! :0) In my prayers my friend! XOXO, Julie. :0)
Praise the Lord that you and your family made it through the storm ok! Straight line winds can bring just as much damage as some tornadoes can. And you are right there should've been some type of warning. So glad your family is ok!
I'm glad to here you and your family came out unscathed. I livee in Lawton and we had some crazy damage from the same storm!! Sometimes you never know about these crazy Oklahoma summer storms! But I'm glad you guys are ok!! God Bless...
Glad you all were safe !
A.N.
So glad that you are all allright. We have had several storms here in West Tennessee this year and They can be very scary. Do be careful with the clean up equipment. They are not toys and you don't want to risk an injury. Cain saws can jump back at you. My mother lost a friend several years ago to a chainsaw accident.
