Card Donations Needed! Great Service Project!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all having a FABULOUS Wednesday!  I know that I am!  I have already done the dishes, a load of laundry, made breakfast for my kids, packed 4 lunches, ran 3 miles at the gym and showered all BEFORE 9:00 am!!  It's sooo weird having all of my kids out of the house by 8:10 am!  Now if I could tackle my MOUNTAIN of laundry that needs to be hung up and put away I will be good!  LOL!

P.S.  If anyone has any great French Toast recipes, send them my way.  I'm trying something new this year.  I am making my kids a hot breakfast every morning.  I'm sacrificing some sleep but you wouldn't believe the difference it makes in the morning having everyone together for a breakfast instead of them pouring their own cereal and bickering with each other.   (We will see how long this hot breakfast thing lasts!  Two years ago I tried it and lasted 2 weeks.  LOL!  My goal is for at least the school year.)

I received the following letter and wondered if any of you have time to send a few homemade cards for her cause.  I would really appreciate it and we could really brighten someone up!

"I really need your help along with the your followers. Long story short. I am a nurse at the Medical of WI in Plastic and Reconstruction dept. We specialize in the forefront in reconstruction for breast cancer. Women from all over the country come to us.  This year I/we decided to sponsor the breakfast for breast cancer survivors. 1500 women who have had breast cancer or who are actively dealing with it now will attend this breakfast before the run/walk.
Every year prior to this year I have made something for the women and handed it out at the end of the race/walk. To my astonishment people would be grabbing-pushing aside other women and men to get what I was handing out. Ex: white and pink chocolate covered Oreos, wrapped pink and white M&M's mini bags. TO my astonishment again the cancer survivors really didn't receive what I made.

Well this year, the breakfast will be catered by one of the best chefs in Milwaukee. I feel it is an honor to sponsor this. Where you come in - Please if one person could make a card to support uplift make someone smile. It would make their day. The card would be placed at their seat. Please Please help!
I would be happy to give my address if you could ask people to help me with this. Just 1 card - 1500 Pink Stamper followers. The Breakfast is on September 28th.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Mortl RN,CPSN

Kathy Mortl
10261 N Sunnycrest Drive
Mequon, WI  53092"

Thank you sooooo much everyone!!!

**If anyone would like to share their card below, I am adding a link.  We would love to see what you create to donate!

I'm also adding a giveaway!  To be in the drawing, just share your project below!*

Of course!! We will send a few. Just a tip, I make pancakes or French toast at night and save the leftovers. They taste great in the toaster or microwave. A little faster and less prep. Sandy C.

Great cause. I will send one along. As for French Toast recipe. The one that gets the rave reviews at my house is made with Pepperidge Farms Cinnamon Raisin Bread. Then I dredge it in egg that has a splash of vanilla extract in it (just like normal french toast) and sprinkle just a bit more cinnamon on top before placing in pan. The raisins plump up bit and there is super flavor all the way through.

Glad it gives me a little time. Once I get the kindergartener off to school in a week, the other two are in school & hopefully my twins will actually take a nap instead of wanting to nurse every hour so I can work on something for these special women!! Thanks Kathy for all your hard work.

Nice cause, I will definitely participate...question: didn't we do this a few months ago for a military outfit? I could have my crafting blogs mixed up, but I really thought it was your site (because I come here the most!!)

Please let me (and the rest of us) know because I've lost that address and would like to make that a continuous gift.

Thanks!

Would love some help from some of your talented girls! Hopefully I can do better for next year! I posted some more information at www.mommycricuteer.blogspot.com
I think it is a fantastic cause - These back packs will go to kiddos in homes for recovering addicted Mothers, and/or battered or abused monthers.

What a nice thing Kathleen is doing. Those poor women and their families go through so much and can use help from the community.
Sorry I don't have any French toast recipe but I hope you do keep up the hot breakfast for your kids. It shows them that breakfast is important and so is time together as a family. Good for you for making the "mom" sacrifice.

Cancer has been part of our family in one way or another for many years. Some good outcomes, some not as good. You know we will be sending some of our "cards for the cause." We are involved with one of the local Relays for Life. My daughter and I sell our cards at these events to help raise money for Cancer research. Thanks for this wonderful opportunity.

I will be happy to make a few cards for this cause. My SIL had breast cancer and had reconstructive surgery a few years back, it was all the little things people did that really helped her through it.

As for the French Toast, I use my grandmothers recipe:
Eggs, Vanilla Extract, A Couple Drops of Milk, Cinnamon & Nutmeg. For the bread I use Texas, Sourdough and it's also really good with Bays English Muffins.

Doing all those tasks and finishing them all on time is really rewarding. I hope your kids are having a great time in school. By the way, this is a great initiative to extend support to the brave women.

I can definitely make a card!

As far as a french toast recipe, I usually take a really thick slice of bread, cut a slit and stuff with bananas or some other fruit I have on hand. Then I dredge the bread with the egg mixture and put on the heat. Best with bananas and a handful of walnuts with some maple syrup!

meredemaison said...

My favorite french toast recipe is: 2 eggs, 2/3 cup milk, 2T sugar, 2 pinches salt and 1t vanilla. Robyn, something that's easy is if you do a breakfast bread in a bread machine that's set up to be ready in the morning - your house will smell heavenly and it's pretty easy in the morning! If you need a recipe, I've got a yummy one somewhere...rgauss@sbcglobal.net Good luck with your goal! Sounds like a very nice idea!

Of course I will! I have a friend that is fighting for her life agains breast cancer that has a 2 and 3 year old. So this cause hits close to home.
As for the French toast ideas. I get Cinnamon Swril Bread (Texas Toast Style) at Costco. I combine 2 eggs, half and half and 1 tsp of vanilla to the "batter" and then dip the toast in it and then pan fry them. Garnish with strawberries or fresh fruit and of course syrup. A full loaf should serve around 7-8.

One of my favorite french toast recipes is to make banana bread the day before; slice it, dip into egg/milk batter (add a little cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg) and cook on the grill. Drizzle maple syrup over top. Very yummy if your kids like bananas.....

Robyn, if you'd like the exact recipe, feel free to email me.
