Happy Mother's Day to ALL Women!
Happy Mother's Day to all of you women out there!
I have been pondering in my heart the meaning of Mother's Day. Today should be a very special day for all women, whether we have children or not. We all have an influence over children in our lives. Our friends' children, our neighborhood children, our students, our own children. I have been looking through quotes given in our church and I found a great talk that was perfect. Here is part of it...
"...the subject of motherhood is a very tender one, for it evokes some of our greatest joys and heartaches. This has been so from the beginning. Eve was “glad” after the Fall, realizing she otherwise “never should have had seed.”9And yet, imagine her anguish over Cain and Abel. Some mothers experience pain because of the children they have borne; others feel pain because they do not bear children here. About this Elder John A. Widtsoe was explicit: “Women who through no fault of their own cannot exercise the gift of motherhood directly, may do so vicariously.”10
For reasons known to the Lord, some women are required to wait to have children. This delay is not easy for any righteous woman. But the Lord’s timetable for each of us does not negate our nature. Some of us, then, must simply find other ways to mother. And all around us are those who need to be loved and led."
Every Sunday I have the opportunity and great blessing to teach all of the children music in my church (ward). Even though I am not the children's mother, I love each of them just as I do my own. There might be a child in that group that I will be able to influence as they grow up. :)
On that note, I wish you all a wonderful Mother's Day!
My family made me breakfast in bed and gave me all the goodies they made in school last week. Here is a special letter from my 6 year old. I am grateful for his teacher and the love she shares with him as she helps teach him to be a better person. :)
