Happy Mother's Day to ALL Women!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you women out there!

I have been pondering in my heart the meaning of Mother's Day.  Today should be a very special day for all women, whether we have children or not.  We all have an influence over children in our lives.  Our friends' children, our neighborhood children, our students, our own children.  I have been looking through quotes given in our church and I found a great talk that was perfect.  Here is part of it...

"...the subject of motherhood is a very tender one, for it evokes some of our greatest joys and heartaches. This has been so from the beginning. Eve was “glad” after the Fall, realizing she otherwise “never should have had seed.” 9 And yet, imagine her anguish over Cain and Abel. Some mothers experience pain because of the children they have borne; others feel pain because they do not bear children here. About this Elder John A. Widtsoe was explicit: “Women who through no fault of their own cannot exercise the gift of motherhood directly, may do so vicariously.” 10
For reasons known to the Lord, some women are required to wait to have children. This delay is not easy for any righteous woman. But the Lord’s timetable for each of us does not negate our nature. Some of us, then, must simply find other ways to mother. And all around us are those who need to be loved and led."
Every Sunday I have the opportunity and great blessing to teach all of the children music in my church (ward).  Even though I am not the children's mother, I love each of them just as I do my own.  There might be a child in that group that I will be able to influence as they grow up.  :)

On that note, I wish you all a wonderful Mother's Day!

My family made me breakfast in bed and gave me all the goodies they made in school last week.  Here is a special letter from my 6 year old.  I am grateful for his teacher and the love she shares with him as she helps teach him to be a better person.  :)

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!

  5. Happy Mother's Day Robyn. That was a very touching quote from the bible that really touched my heart. I have not been able to have children yet, but it must not be the right time. I am also a kindergarten aide and after school teacher and they are like my own children. I have the greatest job and I touch lives everyday :)

Thank you for sharing the quote. It took us a long time to get our daughter and I have had many friends who have also struggled becoming mothers. There are certainly tough days but I wouldnt give it up for anything.

I love the picture your child drew so cute.

  24. As a woman unable to have children(my four-legged furry one probably doesn't count), I am so touched by your message today. You are such a kind, compassionate person, filled with God's spirit. I pray for God's blessings on you as you brighten the world. I am so very blessed to know you. Thanks Robyn!!

  25. Your posting really spoke out to me. Especially the part of, "For reasons known to the Lord, some women are required to wait to have children. This delay is not easy for any righteous woman. But the Lord’s timetable for each of us does not negate our nature. Some of us, then, must simply find other ways to mother. And all around us are those who need to be loved and led."

I lost my baby when I was 5 months pregnant and it has been very tough. I do have a 7 yr old son so he makes it easier. But my heart is still so broken. I would have had two this mothers day. I know God has his reasons for keeping her but it still hurts. Anyhow, I am thankful for the message you posted. It opens up a new side of looking at motherhood. Thanks and Happy Mamasita Day to you.

  26. Happy Mother's Day, Robyn!! Your children are so incredibly blessed to have you. And that letter was soooo sweet!! The message you shared really touched my heart. I don't know if my husband and I will ever be able to have children, but we're so thankful for the life God has given us. And we're hoping someday that God may see fit to allow us to adopt a child needing a loving home. Lots of hugs to you!

  30. Aren't the letters from children so, so special. I have some from my children from years ago. Some have yellowed with age. I would not trade a note or letter hand written from a child for the most elaborate, costly card money could buy. How sweet!!!

  41. Hi, sweet Robyn,
Today's post really touched my heart. I've never had children of my own, but God has blessed me with 3 wonderful step-daughters, 8 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren!!! I realize God had a plan for me to be surrounded by all these children! It wasn't necessary to fulfill his plan for my life for me to give birth to them myself. They are still MINE!!! I love each one dearly! Thank you for recognizing that even though some of us are not birth mothers, we still love our children more than anything in the world! Thank you for being such an inspiration and boldly sharing your faith!
    Love ya, girl!
    Hugs!

  42. Aww, that was so sweet of him to write to you. I remember when my girls were small like that. My youngest daughter lives in Orlando with her Dad since she is attending college over their. So I went to the movies with my oldest 22. I can't believe she is so grown up now. She bought me a Pandora charm. She waited four hours at the mall to purchase it. That was sweet. We went to the movies and then to see my mom. Had a wonderful time.
Happy Mothers Day to you. Thanks for NSD. I was able to complete most of my challenges even though some were not dry and some letters moved when i held up the project for the picture but I guess that was OK. Hope to do it again next year.

And I was in her and the kids life till I left at 20. When I left I felt like I was leaving my kids cause I took care of them almost every single day. I missed them so much it hurt. Now they are lamost all grown but I have to awesome! nephews. Thanks robyn.

  48. Robyn, I'm sure you had a wonderful Mother's Day as did I. My kids are grown now and I miss those cute letters from them when they were Thomas' age. When my twin girls graduated high school I received 2 letters in the mail from the elementary school they had attended. They had forgotten but they wrote a letter to us about their life back in elementary school and the school held onto it until they graduated high school. It was so special and we had some good laughs over what they had written. So, I know you will cherish that forever.

Thanks for the inspiration you share, not only in crafts, but your personal life as well. It is a blessing to follow your blog.
