Hey Everyone!
I'm not sure when the release for Hello Thursday will be but, believe me, it is very worth the wait! I thought I would tell you an off topic story tonight.
About a month ago we noticed that there was a bird making a nest in our fairly new flower door hanger. It laid 5 very small eggs.
The weather was still VERY cold at night! I noticed one night late that the mama bird had not come back to sit with her eggs. I was very concerned. I didn't want the eggs to die. I said a quick prayer that the bird would come back and was very surprised to see her sitting on her eggs in the morning. :)
The first weekend in April my family and I took a weekend trip to Utah. The night we returned, one of the eggs hatched. The next night another one hatched. Finally all of the 5 little birdies hatched.
Here's the mama!
Here's the dada!
Here's one of the sweet babies!!
This morning all of the 5 babies learned to fly with the help of their mommy & daddy and flew out of their nest. I have really missed looking out my door window and watching them grow up. In 3 weeks they went from hatching to flying out of their nest. I am so glad that my babies don't grow up so fast. :(

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 340 Newer› Newest»That is such a sweet story! I have been stalking your blog for the Hello Thursday Update, can't wait to see the new cartridges!
Yes I am also glad ours don't leave the nest that soon, thanks for all your hard work.
As my baby boy is about to turn 5 on Tuesday, and my oldest baby 13 next month, I too am glad that our babies take longer to fly than the baby birds! :)
kristyscraps@sbcglobal.net
Aww, that is such a sweet story! I'm so sorry they are gone now but what fabulous pictures! :) Time to scrapbook them! :)
It seems like my boys have grown that fast! Lately I have really been missing them being little!
My kids are still little, and often I find myself wishing they were just a tad older. It's a sweet story, thanks for sharing. I need to enjoy mine while they're young and haven't taken flight yet.
What a gorgeous story! Yes we are so lucky our babies stay with us for a very very very long time! I am so thrilled to read your prayers were answered!
Who would have thought 3 weeks....imagine if our kids grew that fast we would be crying like babies.....it's hard enough when they get older and move on. Happy Easter and happy hunting of eggs for the little ones..www.canadiancraftcorner.blogspot.com
I love to watch the birds in the Spring. Sometimes they are so creative where they build their nests. I'm glad our babies do not grow and move out that quickly.
I'm so glad your family got a chance to see the eggs hatch and the baby birds grow and learn to fly. I'm grateful our children grow much more slowly so we can savor the time we have with them. Anxiously awaiting the Hello Thursday posts.
Glad to hear the babies grew up. Great story.
Such a sweet story! Love your photos..the male looks like a House Finch...so I assume mama is too. We have barn swallows that nest each year on our front porch. They've arrived and are sitting on their nests now. We love watching them feed their babies! TFS.
Kathryn
Beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it and those wonderful pics.
sweet and moving.
I remember a family of birds on my porch - God taught me a great lesson as I watched them take their first flight. The parents of the babies don't hold them when they fly - but continue to fly by the nest when they think the babies are ready and encourage them....my Heavenly Father does the same with me....he allows me to take the leap of faith, He knows when the time is right. I must trust Him.

Anyway, I'll keep checking back, but thanks for the cute story and pics to tide us over.

Watching your videos on You Tube helped me make up my mind to buy a Cricut. I love your craft room, it's PINK! My Cricut would not be getting near as much use if I were left up to my own devices, you've certainly opened my eyes as to how many things it can do,I can do! First thing off the cutting mat - something for my mom!
Bear, Edmonton, Alberta

A few of my online craft friends have also had bird nests in front door/window decorations... how wonderful that you got to share in God's creation. It is truly amazing how fast those little eggs hatch then leave the nest. Thank you for sharing your bird story.

What a great story! Thank you for sharing.
Robyn,
That was a very nice story.,,,duel purpose for your door hanger :o)

What a lovely tale of birdie bliss - how nice to spend one's "chickhood" in a bright and cheery location. I can just hear the daddy when mama asked about why he selected a door hanger: Who knew it was silk - it looked so real?
I feel the same way - I am glad I get to watch mine grow for much longer than three weeks!
So sweet- love the pics :)

That is a beautiful story and makes me glad me and my kids are not birds.
A great story. I love watching and listening to all the different birds, especially in the spring.
We found a dove egg on our wood pile outside on Thurrsday. We have it in a box under a lamp. Maybe it will hatch soon. Still waiting for Hello Thursday and hoping to win the E2.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful story. God is good!

I think if very fitting that there were 5 babies in the nest and you have five children, very poetic. What a great experience for your kids. Nature is a very beautiful thing. Although the Mama can't hold her babies like we do, I like to think they love theirs as much as we do.
Awe, that is so precious!!
How neat that you could see them right out the window of your door! It must have been really great for your kids to be able to see as well! =) Here's to you and your family, a very Happy Easter!

Love the story. I had a bird build a nest in a hanging basket on my front porch once - loved watching the birds care for their babies.
I love it when nature reminds you of all the little things. It's so neat that they made a nest on your front door. I would say that's good luck! :) Can't wait to see what Hello Thurs. brings!

We had robins make their nest in a tree in our front yard. We were lucky that from the stairs, you had a pretty good view. I remember being quite concerned when a freak wind storm came up, but reminding myeslf that this is nature, and the birds have existed for ages without me. It was quite a blessing to be be able to watch the day they learned to fly and left the next, but sad to see that empty nest after that. I guess that's the life cycle!
Sarah

We had birds in a bush beside our front door one time. We had to switch to using the back door because Mama was so protective that she would dive bomb anyone trying to use the door. I felt bad for the mailman. One time she let me near the nest but that was because it was the middle of a storm and the bush was blowing in the wind and I was afraid it would dump Mama and the eggs out of the nest. I got a rake and put it beside the bush and a rope and tied the bush up so it wouldn't shake so much. Mama let me use the front door for 3 days for that. It was wonderful to watch the babies hatch and how devoted she was to them.
Maybe she will be back next year since you gave her such a nice place to nest.

That was an awesome story. My girls are 14 & 15 now it makes me think they will be leaving the nest soon :(...
Wow, that is really awesome they were right there for you all to see. Your kids must have loved it! Those are really great pictures too.
A few years ago, I had a robin family build a nest on the back of my TV dish. It was so fun to take pictures of the eggs, then the babies, then of them learning to fly. It was sad when they left, and the nest blew down!
Thanks for sharing your story!
Sylvia
What a rare opportunity to actually watch these little birds grow up. Most of us never get to witness anything that special! Thank you for sharing such a sweet story.
I have been checking your blog almost every hour for Hello Thursday! so glad to hear that it is still on. I wonder what the delay is!
Aww...that's such a sweet story. Glad the little babies lived.
What a sweet story, it's amazing to watch life and how other species nurture!! Glad humans don't grow that fast!!
I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. It was a glorious experience because my children and I were so very careful about not going out the front door until we saw that the little ones were able to fly away on their own.
Live is a blessing no matter what kind of God's creation you might be.
Thx for sharing your experience because it brought back a great memory.
Have a blessed Easter.
What AMAZING photos!! I especially like the one of the baby in the nest. What an incredible gift you had to see these birds from eggs to leaving the next. I'm so glad you appreciate the miracle of it all - and took the time to share the story and photos!

Very Cool! My kids and I would have loved watching the babies grow and learn to fly.
Love those little birdies! I just don't know how the little mama and babies made it if it was that cold! I'd say being so close to the house really helped with the drafts and the cold!!
How sweet!!! The last couple of years we have had a bird trying to make a nest in our grill on our front deck. Always had to check the grill before you started it.

So Sweet! I hear you about babies growing up so fast! Can't wait for the release:-)
How sweet is that?! And you had a perfect view of the whole process.
what a funny little bird. We had one build a nest in our tree and then bomb dive us if we walked across the yard.
Awww cute story! I am glad mine don't grow up that fast either. Although... sometimes when they fight... nope still glad! ;)
Hi Robyn!!
Just wrote you a comment w/my birdie-story, but when I pushed publish, it whiped out!! So I'm not gonna write it all over again! Just wanted to say your story is BEAUTIFUL! Your pix are fantastic! Although it's heart-breaking when our own leave, it's a necessary "growing-up" phase. My road in life, has led me (at 50+!!)back to live with my Mom & Dad again. Thank God my son lives only 1/2 hr away! I truly believe God "shows" us lessons we need to learn! Thank you again.
Can't WAIT for Mon nite's live MPS & the HSN launch. (Sshhh...don't tell anybody, but I think I may get the "E2"--IF I don't win it from you!!!)
God Bless & Hugs from R.I.,

Very cute story! Thank you for sharing......I too am glad that our little girl doesn't grow up that fast. She is turn 4 in July and I can't believe it!! i'm super excited to see your Hello Thursday release! I love all of your projects you're so good at it!!
Awww... Wow! that is fast from egg to flying.. How great is it that they picked your door and your children were able to watch the process.
What a great experience for your family! You will always remember the "door birds"!
Very sweet story. I sometimes wish I could stop my children from growing up so fast. Thanks for sharing the story.
Neat story. My sister had a family of cardinals make a nest in a chandelier she has over a table on her deck. (real shabby chic) This year they are back and have laid more eggs, and hatched them. So neat to watch. They will even come and feed the chicks while she is sitting at the table. Nature is wondrous, isn't it?
Thanks for a chance to win an E2.

That is so sweet and fun for the kids.
I love it! Those pictures are priceless. It IS sad that they grew up and flew away after only three weeks, but praise God that they grew up!
oh how sweet! or should i say oh how tweet! :-)
Aww so sweet. Must have been Awesome watching them grow over the weeks!
Makes you realize how quickly time can fly! (no pun intended haha)I hope my kids slow down on the growing up! It is going way to fast!
oh how sweet. great photos.
Robyn-
We have something similar going on. This is the second year that a mama duck is nesting in the corner of our house. Last year she had 12, yes 12 ducklings! I made a blockade around her nest with plywood so no other animal can get at her. Last year, when I removed the plywood (after all were born), mama led her 12 babies across the lawn in search of water and no doubt swimming lessons. Every once in a while one duckling would get off track and mama would stop, turn around and "quack" at them to get back in line. I can't wait to see it again this year! They say that as long as the duck is alive, she will come back to the same place each year! Maybe that will happen with your little birdies! I hope so!
How cute is this!
My kids love watching birds nests. We're lucky enough to have a few each Spring. The mama bird often chooses the wreath on our front door too. :-)
~Sharon C.
It looks like you have a nest of house finches and I also have one on my front porch at the top of the pillars and momma is so skittish that if we even look out the window at her she flies away. Silly birds should know that I feed all of the animals and wouldn't hurt them but she doesn't.
So sweet! We had some eggs in our driveway last year and it was so much fun to have my daughter see them hatch :)
By the way... Is this a "hello thursday" hint??
What an amazing story Robyn, thank you so much for sharing.
Yes Robyn enjoy your precious ones while they are little.. hugs
We've had Doves for the past 4 years last year they had two families in one season. They haven't returned this year, so sad.

May 16th and has no intention on leaving our nest as of yet and I am so grateful for that. I look back at my scrapbooks of when he was small and say WOW where did the years go, it is so sad how life goes by so quickly.
So Glad that they hatched out! I can't wait for the hello thursday carts!:)

great story! I too am glad my babies don't grow that fast

Thanks for sharing these lovely photos. I also am glad our children don't grow this fast. I think they grow too fast as it is! Sometimes, I would like to just freeze them at age 3...they are such wonderfully happy and humerous people at that age filled with such wonder and excitement over everything new.
oh my gosh! That is amazing...life is so amazing!! but i too am thankful my little one doesn't grow up in three weeks to leave the nest...I'm going to have a hard enough time when she does leave...like 18 years from now!! ha ha ha...you are so lucky to have been able to witness that!!

We grew butterflies from eggs last year. The day they hatched we had a birthday party with teeny tiny cakes and treats. It's amazing to watch something grow from a little egg.
Wow what a cool story, that is so great that none of the babies got hurt!
Spring is always such an incredible for renewal and new life! Thanks for sharing this story. I couldn't tell, are the birds Robins? (would be appropriate, wouldn't it?)
Happy Easter Robyn and thank you sharing your stories! It just continues to amaze me at the joys God has brought us through the simple things like watching something (or someone) grow.
That is so cool that they were right outside your window like that! Guess the mommy bird liked your door decorationas much as you did! Maybe even better if she claimed it for her home!

I had a robin make a nest in the sill of my bathroom window. I so enjoyed watching and waiting for the eggs to hatch. It was neat because I could keep an eye on them every morning as I got ready for work. You are right, I am so glad my children do not grow up as fast as the birds did. I was able to get some really cool pictures of the process and even snapped a picture of the mama bird putting a worm in the babies mouths. Have a great Easter!

Wow that is so neat that the birds built their nest right on your door display. We've had a bird nest built on top of our back door light. She would always fly away when we'd open the screen door to let the dogs in and out, but she'd always come back when we were through.
