Cards for Charlie

Hello Everyone!

One of my viewers sent me information on a little boy named Charlie who is in need of our love & support.  He has a rare condition which causes blisters to form on his body.  Let's all flood this sweet child's mailbox with homemade cards filled with love & encouragement.

Here is the link to Angela's blog with more information and an address to send the cards to.  Let's make this boy's hard days a little bit brighter.

Thank you everyone for the loving support you give to so many!

  1. OH MY!! I am amazed you heard about Charlie's Story!! He's from around my neck of the woods and we have been having updates about him on the news about his illness and treatments! I am SURE that he and his family will LOVE all the cards that people care to make and send to him! Thank you for posting this! I am sure it will mean a lot to him! On a bright note, his latest treatment seems to be working as his skin is starting to improve! Yay Charlie!!

  17. I feel so blessed that you posted about this. I'm from less than 10 miles away from where they live in Wisconsin and go to the University of Minnesota (where Charlie is currently undergoing treatment), so I feel very connected to this family even if I just found out about them. Thank you for the link; I will definitely be making a card or two for them.

  18. The minute I saw your post I thought, I wonder if he has EB? One of my best friends has this. We were both hired as 2nd career teachers 9 years ago. She has had to leave teaching and go on disablility due to the constant unbearable pain this disease inflicts. Another internal problem this disease causes is webbing of the throat (due to the blistering and scarring) so she has to have constant surgery to widen her esophagus. Having seen what this disease does to a person and family, I know this poor child has to be suffering. I will send him a card or two.

Here are some links to what she is dong to increase awareness about EB:

  19. This spoke to me, and I decided that I would collect cards to bring over to the family in person since I live very close to the University of Minnesota campus. Here's a link to the blog post: http://brittaswiderski.com/2011/01/18/cards-for-charlie/

  22. I spent Christmas in the hospital and just when I was about to be released after 2 weeks they found 6 blood clots (3 in my legs on their way up to my lungs/heart and 3 more already in my lungs). What a scary thought....anyway one of the elementary school classes had made cards for everyone in the hospital-the little boy who made mine was so sweet-he told me not to worry, there are many many Christmas and this will just save my mom and dad some money cuz they won't have to buy me any presents cuz i will be too sick to open them and won't have a tree to put them under in my hospital room..i am 45 years old lol..but nothing like looking on the positive side. Anyway, being a nurse I know how many people are sick and what just a simple card can do for your spirits. I am now home so that is why this post took me so long but I am so glad everyone is doing this!!
