Day 1 of the 12 Days of Christmas (Episode 256 - Christmas Goodie Bags)

Good Morning Friends!!

Can you believe there are only 12 days left until Christmas?  Well at our house we have a great tradition that was handed down to me from my own family.  Every day of the 12 days of Christmas we got one wrapped present in our stocking.  We were allowed to touch it, smell it, and shake it but we couldn't open it.  On Christmas morning our stockings, with our 12 wrapped presents, would be hid somewhere in the house and we could find them and start unwrapping those gifts without waiting for everyone to get up.  This really helps anxious children (ME) so that they do not have to wait for their sleepy older siblings to wake up.  I do this tradition for my children, too, and they have come to love it.

The next 12 days on my blog I will have something for YOU!  Why should my children get all the fun, right??  There will be a giveaway every day, some videos, and challenges.  I know that this time of year is extremely busy for most of us but I felt that you all deserve something just for YOU!

Today my 5 year old and I made you this fun video of some goodie bags that I made for his class last Friday.  They turned out soooo super cute!!!

We used Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge along with Winter Punnies Stamp Set from My Pink Stamper line.

Here we are at his Kindergarten class party.  I accidentally only made 20 goodie bags when there where 22 kids in his class!!  Good thing someone was absent and he said they could have his for now.

Today's giveaway will also be a GREAT gift that you can give someone or just display it in your house.

These were designed and made by Ashley Mahoney.  Click HERE to see her other work.

Just leave a comment on THIS post with a way that I can reach you if you win!  Good luck everyone!  Don't forget that I will have something fun for you every day!!

We tie a ball of yarn to the santa gift and string it all over the house, sometimes even outside through the doggie door. The yard starts in the kids' rooms and when they wake up they have to follow it over all it;s crazy route to end up at their gift from Santa. It's super fun, and makes the Christmas morning fun last even longer.

What a great tradition! Santa always makes sure that he has a different paper than the paper we use for gifts. I usually end up using the leftover "Santa" paper the next year, I still can't believe that the kids haven't figure that part out yet! lol

Stocking stuffers are my favorite thing about Christmas morning. I tell my husband that the gifts must be wrapped-which he just loves to do LOL! We started something new this year to get the kids involved with the giving and not just the receiving. On Thanksgiving we drew names and that is the stocking we fill. We gave it a dollar limit to be fair. Of course, we supply the kids with the money until they are older. Thanks for the giveaways Robyn! tntcarr@msn.com

Oh my goodness how fun is that. Robyn thank you for the neat idea. I think I'm going to implement this for my son. He's a special needs child and is very anxious. He has some issues and yet he's asked about what we can add as special traditions in our family. We read the Christmas Story Christmas Eve then open one gift. Then Christmas morning again we read the Christmas Story and he then opens the first gift of Christmas for Jesus. He loves that and that he gets to find the Christmas Pickle in the tree as well. This 12 days of Christmas will be fun. Thank you for the great idea and for the chance to have fun in the 12 days of Christmas.

I love your Christmas stocking idea and am going to try to get this done so that we can start it this year. We have no young children in our family now but who says adults can't have fun with these things too! As for the penguins, my daughter & 4 of her friends (all graduated together in 1981) get together once a month for food, fellowship, and fun...I think I will make these for her January party. Their theme for that month is January in our Jammies...they are getting together on a Friday night, wearing their pajamas, eating pancakes-sausage-eggs-juice, and watching movies. With our cold winters here in Iowa, these little penguin treat bags will be a cute favor for them. Thanks for sharing the idea with us. And Merry Christmas to you and your family.

These are simply adorable, and I know the Kindergarteners loved them! That is such a sweet tradition; I may "borrow" it when my husband and I have children.

I love your goodie bags...working on some myself for my daughter's class. The Twelve Days of Christmas...what a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing!!!

Hi Robyn!!
Your goodie bags are ALMOST as adorable as your son! Would go & make some right now...if I had my "E" back from PC! They did send me a replacement (after 3 weeks of Cricut withdrawals!lol), but that one is worse than the one I sent them. On hold now with them for over 1 hour, but hopefully will be able to work something out before Xmas....have sooo much waiting to do! Your video is GREAT. Looking forward to seeing the "12 Days of Christmas"!! And would LOVE to win Ashley's creation!!Thank you for the chance!
Hugs from R.I..
