Christmas Ornaments using the Cricut and Glitter It from Beacon Adhesives!! (Episode 151)

Happy Saturday Everyone!!

I hope you are having a WONDERFUL weekend so far!  The weather is beautiful here.  Nice and cool but bright and sunny.  Last night we went as a family to see the new movie Megamind.   I give it an 8+.  Very good movie!

Okay, are you all dying to know who my special guest was on Friday??  My friend Mike (also known as the Glueologist) from Beacon Adhesives flew out from New Jersey just to visit me and My Pink Loft!  We had a BLAST and learned a lot from each other.  He also makes videos on Youtube and you should check them out!  Click HERE to see what he has put together so far.  He is definitely the glue expert and also very knowledgable in our crafting hobby!

Here is a fun video that we made while he was visiting.  My kids LOVED it!!  These ornaments turned out soooooooo totally BEAUTIFUL and SIMPLE to make!!  I added the Cricut touch at the end.  Hope you enjoy it!

You can purchase Glitter It at Hobby Lobby and other retailers.

"Glitter It should be available at AC Moore, Hobby Lobby,  and some other retailers. If you can't find it, please ask-some of the stores still have holiday products that have not been put on the selling floor yet. If you can't find it, call us at 800-865-7238 or send an email to karen@signaturecrafts with your location and we will try to find it for you."

So simple, so beautiful!
Thanks you both for the tip.

You can also use Pledge Floor Shine. The glitter sticks as well with it and you make them the exact same way. I've already made several using it. I think it used to be called Future Floor Shine but now it's just Pledge. Very pretty ones that the kiddos made...always love a kids project

I think the purple K is for Karlee!!

I was going to do this project for Christmas gifts this year...but I was worried about the other products I have seen used for this technique (ink refills and floor shine). I am excited because I feel more confident in the longevity of this product and I can't wait to get my hands on some!
Polyester glitter? I never knew there was such a thing. I wonder how you can tell the difference when you buy it at the store.
Thanks for sharing. It sounds like it was a great family time. I'm off to the YouTube channel of the Glueologist to see what other cool stuff I can find.

Very cool technique! And Robyn, your babies are ADORABLE! They were having such a good time. And we all know who that last ornament was for: Glitter + Purple + K = KARLEE!!! LOL

BTW, what is the name of the Beacon adhesive that you and Mike and the kids were using? I'd like to add it to my stash. The only Beacon adhesive I have right now is Fabri-Tac, but its consistency is too thick to use for this project.

Thanks Robyn, and TFS! :o)

Loved the video and thank you to Mike for demonstrating this great ornament. I have heard that a clear floor wax works just as well. Haven't tried it yet, but will. Also, you mentioned, "kissing", not sure what that is. please explain. Haven't worked with vinyl yet, but will doing this ornament. Thank you to you and Mike for demonstrating this beautiful ornament. Your children are delightful and fun to watch.

Funny, I just got back from a scrapbook store where they were having a take 'n make today. They showed how to pour alcohol ink into a glass ornament like the one Mike used. You swirled the ink around in the ornament. It is very neat, too. Then I come and and open up your site and see Mike demonstrating his technique. Good Day for learning something new for the same type of ornament.

This is an AWESOME project!! I cant wait to do this with my son...and also possibly make it project for his class too for the holidays. I had a few questions for you...

do the ornaments have to be glass? I dont even know if they make plastic ornaments...but if they do..can i use them..(the kiddies in the class are 3 so i dont want them to mess around with glass)

also what type of glue did u use? I didnt catch the name of it in the video.

And you said any fine glitter is good..is there a specific brand that is better?

Thank you in advance!!

Thank you so much for sharing Robyn! The restaurant where we work at, last year we started a giving tree, put items on tags that can be bought and donated to the womans shelter and the childrens hospital in our area, which a lot of the guests that came in participated. But this year, my boss and I were talking, and we decided to go to the childrens hospital to visit and do some kind of crafts with them, she thought we could bring in glass bulbs and help them decorate. So when I saw this, I thought this would be a perfect idea to do with the kids! Considering they can't do much, thought they could glitter and decorate with stickers (maybe I'll cut out letters with my cricut also). I have yet to mention the idea to my manager, but I know she will love the idea. So thanks again Mike and Robyn for the idea, I'm sure it will put a twinkle in the childrens' eyes also :)
