Spammers.... YIKES!

Good morning Everyone!!

Apparently some of you are getting e-mails from people claiming they heard about you from me and they are looking for love.  I did not give anyone any information.  They are scammers and this happened once last year.  Please spam the e-mail from them.  I am looking into getting a more secure way to leave messages but for those of us who use Blogger blogs I am not sure if that is an option for now.  Here are some tips to keep you safe.....

*Never leave your e-mail address as written normally.  Space it out and spell out and and dot.

*If possible, get a separate e-mail that you use just for the blogs that you comment on.  They are free and that is a way that you can keep everything separate.

*Never respond to an e-mail from a person whom you do not know.  This is just a rule that you should have anyway.

I hope that you will all know that I am sorry you have been bothered.  It drives me crazy that there are people out there who try to ruin a great thing.  Please just delete their e-mail.

I will have LOTS of fun things posted this week!!  Don't forget to check back later today!

  7. We know it's not your fault! I did get one and it went right to my spam folder anyway. I've even gotten something like this on my Facebook account, so they are all over the internet.

  8. So sad they don't have better things to do with their time ...like scrap!

  9. Wow, that really stinks about the Spammers.

I have been meaning to ask you a question about posting our emails with comments, especially for the giveaways. Is it necessary for us to leave our emails when we have a blogger account that has our email address attached to it or listed under email on our pages? I have noticed that some do type it out and some don't, because it can be found on their page.

    Thanks!

  10. Hi Amanda,

If you have a secure blogger account or a blog you do not need to leave an e-mail addy.

  11. Robyn,

Unfortunately this is just another way for people to get attention - I have worked in the IT world for many years and it is one of the biggest frustrations - it makes the internet annoying instead of what it should be a place we can exchange information and share ideas respectfully - sorry you had to deal with this and your tips are great. Try to have a better day.

  14. No worries Robyn, it happens (actually to me, earlier this month.) I understand your guilt, but it just happens to people. Good tips you posted, thank you! I think it's just a good rule to not "share the love in new friendships" with people you have never, ever heard of LOL!!

  15. Thank you for the tip. I just got an email this morning about that.

  20. Robyn,
We know it's not your fault what those unkind people do who take advantage of any email address they can find anywhere on the web. You just keep doing the wonderful things you do for all of us to enjoy & appreciate. You are such a blessing.
    Thank you so much.

  22. I had someone send an email from my email address a while ago. They sent to everyone in my email address book. All of my friends were asking why I wanted them to come over to check out my new cell phone! I was stumped until my DH looked into it for me and figured out what had happened. We fixed the problem.

There are always going to be people who have nothing better to do than to cause trouble.

  23. Yep--I got one too, but I figured once I read it that it wasn't affiliated with you-and trashed it! Thanks for letting us know though Robyn!!

  37. It really stinks that people have nothing better to do with their time than to wreak havoc with other's lives. (Maybe we should introduce them to the world of Cricut'ing! lol)

I keep this as a spare account and delete most of the mail anyway. My "real" account is for family and friends.

Hope the spammers grow up and get a life so they can leave everyone else alone.

Hey Robin I just remember that I was somewhere on an blog and I could leave a comment but in my e-mail address but you was the only one who saw my e-mail. that's what you need. and you need to fix your blog so that when you put something new up I get an e-mail that would help everyone out. I know sometimes I can't get my goggle to work all the time.

just a little info do what you want with it. Debbie just trying to help

  39. Thanks for the word of warning.. I did receive the email as well.. and since it went straight to my spam folder, I figured it was spam.

Now I know why I see people leave their email addresses in the form you suggested.. I just thought people were being creative.. haha..

    Thanks for the advice!

  46. Hi Robyn
I got one of those too but knew it was nothing to do with you. I am a blogger user and can always leave comments on your blog plus when you do ask for an email addy I never spell it all out directly and they still managed to spam me. However my internet provider AOL noticed too and blocked my email address for a day so that the spammer could not forward anymore using my email address.

It's awfull here you are providing a good service and there is always someone that spoils it.

  60. Hi Robyn,

I have gotten two or three spam emails from people using you...

During a few of your contests, you had us include our email in our posted comment. I think it works better when you have just the winners email you with their information.

    Thanks so much,

    Jennifer

  61. Hi Robyn, I got one of those emails. I always write out my email address like you said but it is still there for them to use. Do I even need to do that for you to get in touch with me if I would win some thing. When you click on my name doesn't my blog show up? I am lazy and don't want another email address to keep track of but if I need to that is really OK. Knowing me I may have forgotten to do the (dot at thing) one time and they pick up on it. It really wasn't a big deal. It came as Spam and I deleted it.
    Thanks for looking into it.

  64. This is the reason why I've removed myself from the blogs and facebook. I'm receiving way too much Spam email. One suggestion - do not request bloggers to write out their email address. That's where they are getting this information.
