Episode 174 - Homemade Bread & Tag (3rd Challenge)

Okay, here is my 3rd and final challenge for the weekend. I hope you will all be able to participate!! Just leave a link to your project in the comments of each post.

The machine that I used to grind the wheat is called a Whisper Mill but I prefer the newer type of wheat grinder called the Nutrimill.

The machine that I used to make & knead the bread is called a Botsch.

You can get these along with the dough enhancer, wheat gluten, pans, and bags I used from www.pleasanthillgrain.com.

Here is the ingredients for the bread recipe.....

Add 3 1/2 cups warm water, 1 1/2 Tbsp yeast, and 1 Tbsp honey in a mixing bowl. Mix together and then let sit for 8 minutes.

Add 2 cups white flour, 2 cups wheat flour, 1 egg, 1/4 cup oil, 3/4 cup honey, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp dough enhancer, 2 tsp wheat gluten to the mixer and mix together.

Add 5-6 cups wheat flour until the dough pulls off the side.

Knead in the machine for 8 minutes.

Separate into 3 loaves and add them to greases pans.

Let rise on the counter or in a warm oven until doubled.

Bake at 350 for 30-33 minutes.

Eat it up! Yummy!!

Bread looks awesome. What kind of machine do you use?? I'll bet all of those ingredients aren't available in the little town where I live--dough enhancer and wheat gluten. Never seen those in the stores here. And wow! You grind your own wheat! Did you get the machine, etc, through the church? (DH is LDS)

Wow the bread looks so good! I have never seen a machine like that...is it a food processor of some sort? Curious why you grind your own flour and if you always do that?

Robyn HELP! Approx how long does it take to ge the dough to double? Also, my daughter and I left out the enhancer and gluten..is that ok? Made it in my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and the thing was nearly smokin! Can I put this in my breadmaker? We will see shortly how this works out! Oh, we didn't have 3 pans so we took a square pan and divided it with foil. Not sure about that either. We love your videos! Thanks!

Wow!! I made this bread using my Kitchenaide stand mixer with the dough hook. Didn't have the dough enhancer, but had everything else. It came out WONDERFUL!!! DH and I had it toasted with butter and honey for breakfast this morning! YUMMO!!! So, if you can't find the dough enhancer, don't let it stop you from baking this awesome bread recipe! It will still be delicious!!! Thanks so much for sharing, SuperRobyn!!!

Blessings and hugs!

Thanks for inspiring me to get going on bread making again.

I look forward to trying it. I use a fabulous honey whole wheat recipe (I use agave) that is out of this world from the blog "A Year in Bread."

That bread looks delicious! My mom used to bake bread when I was a kid, but I've never done it b/c I thought it was too complicated. You make it look so easy, I might have to give it a try. I don't have the fancy mixer/grinder though!! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

I love the smell of bread coming out of my oven. I haven't made bread for so long. I am motivated to make some this week. Hope I can find the time. My youngest daughter is trying out for a play today and if she makes it, she will be busy every night until 8:30. I'll have to find some time to make some cards and bake bread. Yummy!

quirky.girl said...

Just finished making the bread recipe - YUMMY. It is totally foolproof - I didn't have the wheat enhancer and I wasn't overly cautious with measuring the ingredients - and it turned out wonderfully delicious! My only issue is the recipe called for so much WW flour, that it nearly overheated my kitchen aid blender (loved your Bosch - maybe once the KA blows up ;-))! I was wondering if one could half the recipe? My gf will be the recipient of one of the loaves - her mother is battling pancreatic cancer and I wanted to do a little something to let her know I care.

Thanks for the weekend of challenges!
