Hi Robyn!!! Such a cute idea!! I'm gonna make some of these. Ya know, I was thinking if you didn't want your taped ribbon to show on the bottom, you could always just cut a square the right size in the same colored cardstock and just put that on top of it. TFS!!

So cute. I so wish I had this cartridge!!

Love it, would like to make a few but I am in the middle of packing for a move so all my craft stuff is packed and ready to go. Will have to wait for now. But enjoyed watching you do yours. I think I am haveing craft redraws, can not wait to unpack and be creative again.

Cute project. Your paper piercing reminded me of the time I was sewing on a quilt and I got my finger to close to my needle on the sewing machine and the needle broke off in my finger. That was a lovely trip to the ER. But hey no blood on the quilt. I checked first before I let my husband take me to the ER.

Oh my gosh! I love you just for showing everyone how to use the set paper size button. I could not figure out how in the world that worked. I kept meaning to pull out my book but was too busy cutting instead. Thanks!!!! :)

Mary from Charlotte, NC area-
snow, ice storm here overnight, some areas with 12 " of snow & ice on top. We have about 1" of snow with ice on top. We will have to wait until the temp gets high enough to melt the stuff as we don't have snow removal equipment. It is forcasted to get to +12 degrees overnight & stay cold until Mon. We had better luck in MN getting out after huge storm cause there they have snowplows & do 2ndary roads. Here they don't. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere! JUst enjoy being housebound. Can craft all weekend! Yay!!!

Dear Robyn,

Thanks for taking your time on this blog.

My wife and I watched your video and she got so excited.

I am hoping you might be able to help me out.

My wife just got in for a nap (we have a 16 month old girl who is now napping as well). I belong to a blog (different subject) but my wife is always wondering what I am reading and writing about.

She absolutely loves scrapbooking and creative decorating. She is always doing considerate things for other people (she has a whole box full of greeting cards for any occasion, should it present itself)

I got online with her and found this site and told her how she could meet and discuss with others new and great ideas that she never has seen before.

We watched your video and she was so happy.

A little backstory here now. We live in North Carolina and are a military family (you must be in the South like us because of your reference to the snow/ice storm)

A month ago her best friend moved to Germany (Her friend was a scrapbooking and crafts enthusiast) and she misses her a lot. My wife's friend had a whole room in her house dedicated as a craft room!!!! Probably not unheard of here though...

My wife just left her job on Friday and will be a full time stay at home MOM! I am so proud of her. She is the best mother and a wonderful wife.

She was very sad about leaving work, where she had been for almost 10 years, but as we all know, there are some things that are more important than just money.

After we saw your video clip she said "I want to have one of those Cricuts". She said it would be better than getting Jewelry! (WOW!)

I want to surprise her and get her one for Valentines day...

My question is to you (or anyone else here) is:

1. Where is the best place to get one? Michaels or Ebay?

2. What type of Cartridges should I get her?

3. What would be the best way to give it to her (Just wrapping it seems so mundane) Any suggestions on how I could really make this special?

She is the best wife and I want to give her something she loves. I hope she gets involved with this, because she is very into scrapbooking(she used to do all night scrap -n- chats with her friends.

Thanks for any input.

regards,

-EC

Hi EC!!!

What a sweet and thoughtful husband you are!!! She is going to be soooo surprised!!

There are so many great online stores that sell the Expression much cheaper than ebay or Michaels. I would try....

www.customcrops.com
www.hallmarkscrapbook.com
www.scrapbookpal.com

The Cricut comes with 2 cartridges and at Custom Crops you get to pick any two you would like.

I bet she would LOVE Doodlecharms, Storybook, Paper Dolls, Sesame Street, Mickey and Friends, etc.

Hmmmm. I wonder if you could have it set up for her and then have her go on a scavenger hunt with notes that led her to it.

Let us know what you do and how she reacts!!!!

Good luck!!
Robyn

Dear Robyn and Friends.

This is EC... Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I ordered a new Cricut expression with two cartridges. Bought it online and had it shipped for $238 total!

The Cricut came today via UPS. The doorbell rang and before I could get downstairs, my honey had gone to get it... So much for a surprise... She absolutely loved it and was so happy. Valentines day came a bit early this year.

Thanks all.. I'll try the scavenger hunt next year
