My BIG Secret!!

Okay, I can officially spill the beans on my blog. It's really not going to be a big deal to most of you guys but to our family it is HUGE! We are moving!! That's pretty much it!! I get a new "Cricut Green" stamp room and the kids get a play room/game room. We are so super excited!! So, basically, that is the reason I won't be on here that much in the next few weeks. We are trying to close on the house in 2-3 weeks!!! I started packing up my stamp room closet today and filled 6 full boxes!!! On Saturday I filled up 7 boxes with just my 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbooks!! This is going to be a big project but it is giving me a reason to clean out all my stuff. I have already given away a TON of stuff to some friends and I am still finding things I don't need anymore. I plan on catching up on some videos as soon as I get myself unpacked. I am going to keep out some of my stamping/scrapping necessities until the time gets closer. I will see if I feel like making some more videos before I move.

Anyway, if you have any moving tips or advice I would love to hear them. We are only moving about 5 miles from our current home but will be in entirely different schools. We kind of planned that so our kids can go to school with their friends from church.

I hope you all have a great week!!

Wow. Moving is a HUGE deal - no matter how close the new location is. You still have to pack/unpack, etc. Congrats and I hope all goes well.

Congrats on your move. My best moving advise is to pack everything, it's so much easier to move things that are boxed up, I know that sounds obvious but it seems like when you are moving a short distance you tend to think I dont have to put that in box and you end up with a ton of things to onsie twosie carry. Also send the kids to a friends house for the day or even two day get lots of friends togeather and just work hard to get it done.

Congrats on the move! How exciting!!! I have a friend that just moved their stuff this weekend and they are sleeping on the floor for the last time tonight, then to a hotel for a month until there new home is finished. She is so tired. Take is easy and we will see you in our new room. I can't believe it wouldn't be pink? Maybe pink decorations? I guess we will have to wait and see. Good luck! LisMH

What a BIG secret! Congrats on your new Cricut Green stamp room. We will miss you but you take your time and get settled in right. Nothing's worse than having unfinished moving items weeks/months later. Have someone in charge of unpacking and setting up the kitchen WHILE the rest of the house is being moved in. Made a huge difference to have real food and real plates after days of pizza and the like. Again, best of luck to your new home!

Congrats Robyn & family!!!! I totally agree with a previous poster. Have someone totally unpack and set up your kitchen while you are doing the rest! Also I have read other advice about the last thing you should pack on the truck is your beds, cause thats the first thing that needs to come off and get those bed clothes on, cause your gonna want a place to lay your head down after a lonnnng day of unpacking. So my advice, have someone unpack your kitchen and set it up and have someone have your beds set up right away. You need to eat and sleep I will miss your videos until you are up and running good again, but take your time, we will all be here waiting on you. I can't wait to see your new room. I am curious about a Cricut green room

Can only image how awesome your new stamping room will be. Your work is FABULOUS and LOVE your adorable kids craft corner (oh...the closet area too!).

Good Luck on your move-and clearning out the craftroom-can't wait to see your new place. Kadie

Congratulations on your new home. How wonderful to have a craft room (I have one too and love it). My advice is to label the boxes on the outside so you are specific on what is inside. When we moved (twice in one year) we always unpacked the kitchen first. Sure made it easier. Also have plenty of bottled water ready at the new house and the old with some snack food.

May your new home be filled with many blessings. I'm so excited for you.

Congrats on the new home, Robyn. How nice that you will go through everything and purge what you don't need. I don't think I would want anyone else to unpack and set up my kitchen -- I would need to do that! But have other people unpack the rest of your house while you work on your kitchen and scraproom! We'll miss you while you're away, but can't wait to see the new room.

Way to go Robyn!!!
That is wonderful and you will have a new room to let your creativity flow. Take your time and get everything just the way you want it. I will be patiently waiting for your return!

Great for you Robyn, I am glad it was a good secret!!! My tip for moving is to mark each box of it's contents, (like kitchen, Livingroom) and then when you unload the boxes you put them in those rooms. It worked for me when we move into our home. I also might mark which one has the important stuff like pots, pans, (buy some paper plates) ect....
Hope it does not drain you too much, I know when I moved I was so mad I had not scrapped!!!!! because of having to set up the house, we han no help, just us and a 2 yr old. uggg...but it was worth it and we made it.

Blessings,
Tracy in AR

CONGRATS on the new house and scraproom Robyn!!! I am about to move for my 15th time in 18 years. Since you are moving a fairly short distance away, here is my advice and what I will be doing myself this time. As you pack up items like your kitchen and such, load those into your van and take them to the new house and unpack them and put them away. Then you can bring those empty boxes back and repack them with more items. This way you don't have tons of boxes sitting around and you already have stuff in your cabinets and such. I also agree with others about writing on the boxes what's in them or which room they go in. This will also help with knowing where the items go. Good Luck with the move. It will be a huge ordeal but so worth it in the long run!!

Congrats on the new home! Sounds like an exciting adventure, but moving is always a lot of work. Good luck and can't wait to see videos and pics of the new place!

Robyn,
My suggestion is this:
label everything that goes into a room with a special color. That way all of your scrap stuff will be pink. The kitchen can be another color and so on. It always help me. good luck with your move and CONGRATULATION!!

That is big news Robyn!!! Hope all goes well with the move! I'll be looking forward to more videos in the future!

That is so exciting!! I personally love to move! I have moved a few times. Moving somewhere new and different...its like an adventure! Make sure you label everything!! And dont just throw things in a box just to pack it...take each room by room...it will make it much easier when you unpack! Congrat!

Congrats, Robyn! I do have a little bit of packing and unpacking advice for you. We have moved down the street and across the country.

First, pack like you are moving across country. It is easier to move that way.

Second, label the mess out of everything so there is no mistake.

Third, if you have people helping you move, label the rooms on the doors or walls just outside of the rooms in the new house like you did on the boxes so they know exactly where everything goes and you don't have to babysit.

Lastly, unpack one room at a time. You will have all of the essentials out because you will need them before, during, and after the move so take your time and put everything in its place.

Good luck with the packing, moving, unpacking, and settling in!

Congrats to you! I don't have any great packing/moving advice that others haven't already said, but I wanted to come on and tell you congrats. I will miss your videos though. I check your blog daily and have learned so much!

BTW, did you take your ipod ATG video off? My son LOVED it and every time he sees me on your site (don't know how he knows this since he is only 3), he asks me to watch "the girl dance it", which in 3 year old speak means, "I want to see the video where the lady dances with the ATG gun".

Robyn said...

Thanks Candace!!! Yes, I took the Ipod video off my blog and Youtube. I got some bad comments and ratings on Youtube for it so I deleted it. I just can't take mean comments about something I made for fun. All is well with me, though. Tell you son that my Ipod ATG gun is taking a break. :)

moving tip#1. always try and lift the box before you seal it. that way you know the books and c$%# you've put in it aren't too heavy. BTDT.

Congratulations!!! And I feel your stress....we made our 5 mile move almost 2 months ago. It is wonderful and exciting, but also very stressful. Luckily, I think my marriage is going to survive. It was a little doubtful there for a few days though. *wink*

My best advice is to label your boxes with the room they need to go to and a number. In your "moving notebook" (yes - you should have one so all the little details don't slip your mind), keep a list of the numbers and EXACTLY what is in that box. Then if you need to find a set of twin sheets, you'll know exactly which box to open.

Diane Davies said...

That is BIG news! A new home is always fun and exciting but yes alot of work. My best advice is label/mark all boxes very well. What is in it and which room it goes. I'm sure this has been mentioned already though. That's interesting that you are moving schools and the kids will be at the same church and school as their friends. We have been thinking about moving churches for that same reason but there are a few other factors in changes churches too. Best of luck on the move.

Good luck with the move, hope everything goes relatively stress free!

Congratulations to you and your family. We are in the process of moving, we sold our home last month and are having a new one built so we are in an apartment for a few months. Packing was a little crazy has some of it went to storage (including all my stamp things and cricut)then the rest is with us. All the best and as crazy as it sounds, take your time it will all get done.
