Celebrity Spotlight.... Lori McCroskey

I am so excited to have my first "Celebrity Spotlight" and even more excited to be able to have Lori McCroskey the owner of Clear Dollar Stamps at I have had the opportunity to communicate with Lori back and forth and I have to say that she is just a doll. I've also been able to do business with her and was very pleased with her personal customer service. Here is a little bit about Lori according to her...
I was born to a VERY crafty family and raised in Missouri . My dad is an architect, my mom has done every craft from flower arranging to painting, to crocheting or any other fad that was out there, and my sister is a very talented artist! I grew up making Christmas presents of macramé necklaces and quilled pictures for friends and family. I have had several businesses after I graduated from Missouri State University in 1992. I had a custom clothing business, a leather business making purses and accessories (the craft show phase of my life), a Stampin’ Up business, and finally my own line of stamps, Clear Dollar Stamps. Of all of these businesses, I love this one the most! Of course, I have to admit, if I were to choose another business that I would like as much, it would be designing clothing and accessories for Barbie!

I was introduced to stamping just after my first daughter was born in 2000. The first time someone asked me to a stamping party, I just laughed to myself, and thought “how dumb…getting together and stamping…how boring!” I went to my first stamping party and learned there was special ink to stamp on clothing….well, that is when I saw the light! After that, I got so hooked, I scrimped and saved to buy as many stamps as I could to do my daughter’s scrapbook. My husband, who is an accountant, saw no need for stamps as they were not earning any money, so, HA, I had to start a business! I joined Stampin’ Up for about a year, and decided that I really wanted some stamps with a Christian message. Thus, I started doing research, and teaching my self to draw on the computer and Clear Dollar Stamps was born! Being a stay at home mom, that didn’t have much money for things like stamps, I envisioned a company with stamps inexpensive enough for Moms-with-no-income to afford. I started with a small line of stamps that were $1 each and took off from there! I started on Ebay in 2004 and in 2006 opened an internet store of my own!

My favorite set is Lots of Spots. This set is perfect for every occasion! Backgrounds for birthday cards, building a Christmas tree, and so much more! This has been one of my best sellers for a couple of years, and it is still my favorite!

My goal for Clear Dollar Stamps in 2008 is to start a card ministry program for churches. The program will be called CutUps, with a slogan of “Cutting through indifference to spread the love of Christ.” I currently sponsor a card ministry that has been a real blessing at our church. We get together once a month to make birthday cards for all birthdays that month and pray for each individual. We also do little bookmarks for special events, decorate treat bags for fall parties, and all other projects that are requested. The most popular item we stamp are tip/tract holders. We make little cards with pockets that hold a tract, an invitation to our church, and your tip. When you go to a restaurant you can leave it standing on your table as a special surprise for your server! When we put a basket of tip holders out for church members to take, they are gone before I get back to the basket to check on them!

Also, in 2008, I am going to start supporting a ministry of a young man from our church. He has started Vapor Sports Ministries and is one of those people you KNOW has found his calling. By introducing young African kids to soccer, he is getting them sponsors to cloth, feed, educate, and introduce them to God in the slums of Africa . His website is not quite finished, but you can go see a clip of his ministry at It will put everything into perspective. I will be introducing a new stamp set where the majority of the proceeds will go to his ministry. I am very excited and burdened for this cause!

My hobbies include stamping, sewing, and scrapbooking. I do not allow myself to be drawn to anything else, as I don’t even have time for these!

My family and God are my first priorities and my joy. My husband is an accountant with a minor in computer support….which is what allows me to do an internet business. Without him, I would just throw my hands up and quit…computers and I do not get along! I have two little girls, Kali (7) and Koriah (5). Kali got the crafty gene and Koriah got the accountant gene. Koriah is trying to be crafty, bless her heart! Our favorite things to do are picnics (inside the van on cold and rainy days) and movie and pizza nights. Our new family activity is karate lessons at church. Sigh. I do it for the family!

I also had the opportunity to work with some of Lori's stamps and I am very impressed. The quality of clear photopolymer in her stamps is excellent and equal with the best of them. Here are some samples I made with her stamps. I had a blast making these, too!

Clear Dollar Stamps also has very reasonable stamps and excellent specials. This month if you order $50 you get this cute set for free!! I am happy to say that Lori will have my future business, too. This has been such a pleasure to spotlight her. I hope you all will take a minute to check out her product. I know you will be pleased, too.
