Secret Elf Swap....

UPDATE: WE ARE FULL!! This is going to be so much fun!! I already know some of the things I am putting in my elfee's package!!

If you posted a comment that you would like to play please e-mail me at robynstamps@yahoo.com with your home address & blog address. Betty, I can't get into your profile to pm you. Thanks!

I was just thinking of the Christmas season and how much fun it is to get surprises in the mail. I thought it would be fun to get a Secret Elf Group together. Here are the details......

I need 10 Secret Elves and I will be one of them. This is what we will all do.....

*Send one fun "secret" package valued between $10-20 without disclosing your identity to the person you are assigned.
*When you receive your "elf" package post on your blog what you got.
*After everyone gets their packages I will post on my blog who had who.

I thought the way to do this so I could be involved without knowing my elf would be to have one of my friends draw the names and then e-mail everyone for me.

Okay, so here is your part! Post on this message if you'd like to participate. You do have to have a blog and be in the US this time. I'm super excited and ready to go! I'm going to start working on stuff for my "secret" elfee now!!

Family Fun!

On Monday nights we have what is called Family Home Evening. It is the one evening a week we set aside just for the family. We sing songs, have a lesson, do an activity, and just enjoy each other's company. Last night we played a game called "Here, Kitty Kitty". My lesson was on being grumpy and for the game we all sat in a circle while one person pretended to be a kitty in the middle. The "kitty" had to go up to someone and just meow while the person had to pat their head three times while saying "Here, kitty kitty". They had to do that without laughing or it was their turn. It was so funny because my 2 year old (almost 3) decided he wanted to be a frog instead of a kitty. We were all busting up.

For the craft we made Christmas ornaments. I went and bought the stuff at Hobby Lobby yesterday and it was all on sale. How lucky was I??

Time Off

Can you believe I took almost an entire week off from blogging?? I just honestly haven't felt like it. I am hoping to get going again this week because my SU order came in today and it was full of paper!! It's definitely time to create something.

I am so super excited about Black Friday this week. I am going to get up at 4am like usual and head on over to Walmart. From there I will go to Target, then Toys R Us, then Bath & Body Works, then to Michaels if I have time.

Did you know that one of the 5-11am specials at Walmart is a Cricut for just $119 and it includes an extra cartridge?? I already own both bugs so I don't need another one but I would highly recommend it if you don't have one already. You will love it!!

Well, I'm off to bed. My kids will be home for the next 5 days and I am going to be super busy. I am speaking in church on Sunday & teaching. I need to finish preparing for both of those. Fun, fun, fun!!

SCS Cricut November Challenges

On Splitcoast Stampers we have a thread just for those of us with Cricuts. We decided to start a monthly challenge making items with our bugs. Here is our first month of challenges.
For this challenge we had to incorporate a shape cut from our Cricut. I used a flourish from the Accent Essentials cartridge. The font was made using Printing 101. The paper is from the Wild Aspargus pack sold at Hobby Lobby. The cardstock is Hobby Lobby's textured cardstock.

This next challenge was to make a non-card item using a font cart. I chose to use Mini Monograms. I covered a tin that I got from http://www.papertreyink.com/. The patterned paper is from Hobby Lobby and the cardstock is Chocolate Chip & Old Olive.
This challenge was to make a card using a shape cart. I used Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More to make my card base. I used the mirror feature using a tag cut. The snowflake is from Accent Essentials, the ribbon is narrow white organdy, the patterned paper is from Hobby Lobby, & the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. The cardstock is Purely Pomegranite from Stampin' Up!
For this challenge I did two in one. First I was to make any brown & orange card and second I was to use a shape cartridge with a cuttlebug embossed foler. The cartridge I used was Animal Kingdom. The colors were all from Stampin' Up! I used Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, and Creamy Caramel. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

This is super funny!!

Here is one of the pages I worked on at the Cricut Swarm. I used the new cartridge Locker Talk for the backpack and bus & Cuttin' Up for the font. The colors I used were Stampin' Up!'s Brilliant Blue, Real Red, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, and Summer Sun.

What's for Dinner??

I have started eating healthier today and exercising. Here is what I am making my family for dinner tonight. I'm just going to throw it all in my crock pot. I'll let you all know how we like it.

Healthy Chicken Recipe
Serves/Makes: 6

Ingredients:
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can cream of mushroom soup -- condensed
1 Soup Can skim milk -- or water
3/4 cup rice -- uncooked
1 cup water
1 chicken bouillon cube

Directions:

Put chicken breasts in the crock pot. Add cream of mushroom soup. Add skim milk (or water). Add 3/4 cup of rice (NOT the instant kind), one cup of water, a chicken bullion cube, and peas, broccoli, or any other vegetables. Cook on low all day (about 8 hours) or high 4-5 hours.

Great Video

Even if you don't scrapbook this is a great video to watch. You might need a tissue because it hits very close to home. At least for me it does. Enjoy. You can check out more of her videos at http://realwomenscrap.typepad.com/scrapbook_lessons/real_women_scrap_tv/page/3/

Cricut Swarm

On Saturday I went to a 10 hour Cricut Swarm. What is that you ask? Well, all of us who own Cricuts and love to scrapbook got together in one central location with our bugs and cropped all day! It was so much fun. Here are some pics.....

This is me and my friend Shawna who came with me. Like my Cricut shirt?? I bought a green one also. I'm going to wear them all the time! My poor husband!
Here we are! We met in a room at the back of Hobby Lobby. It was so nice being able to shop when I needed a break. I ended up needing to buy 4 things while I was there.
I was the BIG winner of the doorprize. I was so excited that I screamed really loud. I'm sure all the shoppers in the back of the store heard me. I was so super happy!

Mother Talk

I have so many thoughts on motherhood every day that I thought I would share some with you. Why is it when your child wants something so badly that we do our best to help them "earn" it or buy it only to discover later that it was a major mistake?? I'm having this issue right now with yoyos in my house. Oh ya, they are great and much fun if you want to play with them the right way but what about when all your kids can do is swing them around and say "yee haw"? I have been hiding yoyos right and left for the past couple of days but my kids always seem to find them. Is it wrong for them to disappear forever?? Yes, they always "promise" to never do it again but then a few minutes later I hear a big THUD followed by crying and an immediate "I'm sorry, it was an accident!" Am I depriving them of a great yoyo talent by throwing them in the trash??

I get a lot of questions every week on how I am able to do it with 5 kids. Well, for one thing, I have to take time out for me. If I gave up my hobbies to be a better housekeeper I would be miserable. I sometimes feel like a mailman when it comes to our laundry. It is never ending!! I did the math yesterday and if everyone just wore one outfit a day (two of my children wear at least two just for fun!) that would equal 49 shirts, 49 pants, 49 underclothes, 49 or more towels, jammies, washcothes, 49 socks, etc. ETA: My DH wears his scrubs all day and then comes home and changes into real clothes so we can times his by 2! That is a lot of clothes each week. I HAVE to take some time for me and if that is scrapbooking or cardmaking then so be it! I am a much better mom when I get a break. Have I mentioned that I might actually get caught up on all my laundry today??? This is a first.

I feel like my house is chaotic a lot of them time. My children are at a very LOUD age. Honestly I don't even know how I do it. I grew up very selfish and impatient. I guess the Lord knew exactly what I needed to work on that! 5 little beautiful children in my home would definitely do the job. We are trying to teach our children not to hit, fight, yell at each other and I feel that we are having much progress. It is a lot of work but so worth it!!

Okay, I'm off to work in my stamp room for awhile. I actually have all my chores done for today because the laundry is in the dryer and I can't fold it and put it away for at least another 45 minutes. I hope I am able to make something while the baby sleeps and the boys play.

Turkey in Disguise

My 5 year old DS came home from Kindergarten with a fun assignment. We were to make a turkey that is in disguise so he doesn't get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. We used my Cricut Expression to make almost everything! Here are the cartridges I used.....
George - For the tail I made 8 inch ovals.
Paper Dolls - We used the cowboy clothes and accessories. I stamped the bandana using Cowboy Kid from Stampin' Up!
Animal Kingdom - We made the turkey head from this cart.

Tagged

I want to thank Lori for tagging me on her blog. I'm not sure if I have any more interesting facts about me that you don't already know about. Here are some that not everyone knows.

#1- I taught myself to play the piano two years ago and it only took me 3 months to be able to play simple hymns with both hands. I love to play!! I never took piano lessons when I was a child and am surprised at how fast I picked it up.

#2- My favorite animal is the shark. I am totally afraid of any water that would contain them but I am fascinated to watch them on TV. When I was on the Hawaiian Cruise a while ago my DH and I went snorkling. I freaked out and I didn't even see a shark. It was the fact that at any moment a shark could be swimming beneath me and there was nothing I could do about it. Okay, even typing that really freaked me out!

#3- I like to try new things, master them, and then I get bored of them. Is anyone else like me?? That is why my DH is so surprised that I still like to stamp and scrapbook. I've attempted many hobbies and once I get them down I don't find them as fun anymore. I guess I'm just a papercraft type of gal!

#4- I only lived 22 miles from Mt. St. Helens when it errupted in Washington. I remember watching it from my front yard and then having to wear a mask to school for week following because we had so much ash in the air. That winter we had gray snow. I'm not even kidding about that. I had some old pictures of me playing in the snow with my dog and everything was gray. I thought that the picture had just gone bad but my sis reminded me that it was gray that year. Weird!

#5- I love to read!!! I just started reading the Little House on the Prairie series and I love it! I'm learning so much about what the pioneers had to do to survive.

#6- I'm so grateful that my DH married me. I was one of those high maintanence girlfriends that we so often see. I'm not like that at all anymore (wink, wink). Really, I have changed so much. I asked him why he married me when I was so demanding and spunky. He told me the sweetest thing. He said "Because I saw your potential." Isn't that so totally sweet??

That's all I can think of right now. I'm not going to tag anyone this time. Thanks for reading!

30,000 Visits!!!

I am absolutely amazed that my little "Pink" blog has had 30,000 visits since June of this year when I started a counter. What amazes me the most is that I am a private blog with Blogspot which means that if you search for a stamping or scrapping blog on their site mine will not even show up. Thank you so much for visiting me over here at "The Pink Stamper".

Watch for my Blog Candy giveaway in the next few days!!! It's so fun to share a bit of my creativity and a bit of my life with you all.
